    9. August 2019 von

Now, this is the end. The last day of this year’s youth meeting. After everything is packed and tidied up, we got to say goodbye. After some tears already we walked to the train station together, to have some last hugs and the last goodbye. Plans are made already to see each other again. We… Weiterlesen

  • Art Project Day 2

    6. August 2019 von

Today was the second day of our art project. To get somephotos for our exhibition we split into groups and went to Gauting. The goal was to take some pictures or videos to set the scene for our artworks. First we went to the train station and met some local people who were interested in our artworks. They asked a couple of questions and we had a short chat with them. It was really nice and a little bit unexpected to get in touch with people through this. Afterwards we went to a playground and took some of our favourite pictures. We were always looking for new ways to highlight another aspect of the artworks. Most of us had never done something like this before. It was fascinating to look at everyday settings from this unusual perspective. A lot of ideas were put into action right away. On our way back we stopped almost every 50 meters for some more pictures. Because of this we were a few minutes late. It seems that creativity and punctuality don’t work together that well. After some spare time we started to prepare the exhibition. Wehad to make a decision on which pictures we wanted to use. For some of us that was really hard 🙂 The exhibition itself was a really nice event. We had some snacks and got to know more about each others artworks. All in all the „Sign it out loud“ exhibtion was a big success!

  • Artsy-Dartsy Artproject Day 1

    5. August 2019 von

On Monday we welcomed a guest that some of us knew from the past of the youth exchange. Anna-Lena, who had been a part of the leading team in the past years, arrived to an art project with us. The very political project started with the visit of a member of the „Fridays For Future“… Weiterlesen

  • A fantastic family stay!

    3. August 2019 von

We started our wekeend with a brunch, to which we had to invited the german hosting families.  The food was a mixture of our typical „german“ breakfast and palestinian dishes, that a group had prepared in the morning. After that there was time to get to know the german families better. Groups consisting of two to five palestinians got to go home with the german participants and their families. One group vistited a middle ages festival and got to learn about the era of knights. They also got to take a look at some of the local churches. Another group enjoyed the beautiful nature that can be found in the alps. In the evening a big part of the group met up at a music party that took place in a corn field. We enjoyed the music and even met some former german participants of the past youth meetings.  After the party we rushed home, trying to get a good night sleep, remembering church on Sunday morning. • The Dachau memorial site

    2. August 2019 von

This morning we started a little bit earlier than the other days. After breakfast we went to the train station and took the train to munich. In munich we went on the train to Dachau and took the bus to the concentration camp memorial site. When we arrived we met Maria Stettner who is a member of the lutheran church in bavaria. She works in the oecumenical department and is responsible for our partnership. She joined us to see how our partnership looks like. We split our group in two and had a guided tour through the memorial site. We visited the museum, heard and read about the people who where imprisioned in the concentration camp. One of the groups went to the baracks, where the people were sleeping and having their showers and the bathroom. Then we went to the crematory where some inmates were executed and where the dead people were burned.  After the crematory, we went to the lutheran church of reconciliation in the concentration camp memorial site where we took part in the weekly Coventry prayer. At the service one of our palestinian and one of our german group members lit candles for two persons who survived the concentration camp. Both of the survivers are still allive. One of them is living in Palestine and the other one in Bad Tölz, Germany. After the church we had a break and some of us, who did not see the baracks yet, went there. They also went to the bunker, where they had single cells for the inmates who did something wrong and were punished. When we finished the break we all sat together in a circle to meet Ernst Grube. He is a 86 year old jewish man who was a kid, when his aunts and their families were deported to a extermination camp and killed by the Nazis. Ernst Grube and his family didn´t get deported because just his mother was jewish and his father was… Weiterlesen

  • Growing together as a group and learning about history.

    1. August 2019 von

Our day started off as usual.  A delicious breakfast from 8 to 9am. We gathered at 9:30am, Volker gave us an overview about the Dachau concentration camp, which we will be attending tomorrow. Afterwards we took a walk o see a really interesting sculpture about the death march of the imprisoned people. Until lunch we enjoyed our free time. Until 2pm, Sally prepared a spectacural arabic food for us (makloubeh). With more free, time some of us rested, meanwhile others ate icecream. At 3pm, we wandered a little further than before (which some of us took as a possibility again to take as much photos from th surrounding and our people as the phone batteries could give) and reached the river. There the group spent time playing sports, laying in the sun, having a deep discussion, or swimming in the river. We all certainly enjoyed our time there. The group came back in time for dinner eating lasagna. At 8pm we started another group discussion with… Weiterlesen

  • Rain, rain & some time without rain

    31. Juli 2019 von

The day started with a very delicious breakfast. Afterwards we continued the getting to know each other games, we started the evening before. The day weather crossed our plans to go tothe lake and we spend the time until lunch with more „getting-to-know- each-other“-games. At lunch some of our palestinian friends got to try the famous bavarian „Obazda“, though the opinions were quite divided over it´s taste. After lunch, the rain seemed to stop, so we headed to the lake. As soon as we arrived the rain continued. So we spend the next hour in a nearby garage. Thankfully not without even more getting to know each other games. Finally the rain stopped and we were able to get to know Kai, who was responsible for the raft building. With his help we built 4 very stable and swimmable rafts. They were very stable on the land, but not that stable and „swimable“ anymore as soon as they touched the water. Still each of them could carried 4 people savely through the lake.  The building process was very good for us to also build up teamwork and we all learned how to work together efficiently. We were even able to work all together as a team, when we raced against the clock and tried to pick 18 bottles out of the water in under 10 minutes. At dinner another german food was introduced to our palestinian partners: Schupfnudeln with Sauerkraut. This food also got very split reviews wether it´s delicious or not. In the evening we formed small groups to reflect on our raft-experience.  All the groups had very deep and meaningful conversationsabout teamwork and their roles in a group. After a short evening prayer, we were off to enjoy anotherevening together. … Weiterlesen

  • A warm-welcome second day

    30. Juli 2019 von

Hello to everyone reading this! We’d really appreciate it if youtook some time out of your day to read about what we have experienced today in the youth meeting. Most of us had a great first night in the institute, we we are all well rested and less tired than we were yesterday After we had breakfast at 8 we had a meeting, where we played multiple games to help us all to get to know each other better to make it less intense and more comfortable and welcoming to make everyone feel more at home. We had lunch at 12:30 and then a break which people used to go to the supermarket and look around the area more. After the break, we decided to drive to the Starnberger lake, on the way there we had to walk down some paths surrounded by tall trees and bushes, then after 10 minutes of walking we arrived at the lake and swam for a bit, it was sunny and the water was cold which made it even and nice. We went back at 6pm in time for dinner, we had hawaiian toast for dinner which was new and strange to some of us, but it tasted good, after that we had spare time to catch up, relax, play frisbee and football. Later we watched the documentary „iron wall“ which was new, shocking and important to the germans and very emotional and sad for the palestinians but everyone had time to discuss it in small groups because in one way or another the stories of both countries are connected somehow. After that we all sang and everyone prayed in their ownlanguage then finally at 11pm everyone was free to do whatever they want. Overall it was a nice, educational and exciting day full of new… Weiterlesen

  • Our very first day!

    29. Juli 2019 von

After a really long day for the palestinians and the germans we finally got something to eat.… Weiterlesen
